Western Cabaret : ウィキペディア英語版 | Western Cabaret
''Western Cabaret'' was a British television series which aired in 1939 on the BBC. It was a variety show compered by "Big" Bill Campbell. Four episodes were produced. It is not clear if this was the intended number, or if the series ended to the suspension of the BBC television service on 1 September of that year. (the final episode aired 18 August 1939, episode 3 aired 13 June 1939 and the second episode aired 8 March 1939). According to the section ''Television News'' in the 6 January 1939 edition of ''Radio Times'', the television studio ''"will be turned into a camp clearing, with a glowing camp-fire and log huts, and all the artists will be introduced as though they were part of the place"''.〔http://www.radiotimesarchive.co.uk/pdf/RT-TV-1939.pdf〕 None of the episodes still exist, as they aired live, and methods used to record live television did not exist until late 1947, and were used very rarely by the BBC until around 1953-1955. ==References== 〔
